How long will my order take?

  1. Special powder coating

So you would like to retrofit your back sliding patio door, we can definitely help you out with this. Generally, we like to ask you a series of questions you may not expect upfront, but these are all necessary in order to be able to accurately quote you for a retrofit. The first thing we ask is what colour frames you would like to go ahead with as the answer to the question helps us to establish lead time expectations. When we provide you with a quote quote for a retrofit, we must ask this question, as the colour factor is very important to us as well as yourself. When choosing colours for your retrofits it is important to keep in mind if your home requires a special powder coating colour, it will dictate the lead time on when the retrofit can be manufactured and installation and will take up to 4 weeks to powder coat.

  1. Ordering a retrofit with a standard powder coating colour

Majority of our aluminum that leaves our factory is powder coated. Powder coating is a coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. Powder coating is used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional finishes, this is so that the powder coating can withhold any wear and tears for instance environmental factors for years to come.
When selecting the colour to suit your home, there will be a 2-3 week processing time for powder coating and this will be required to adapt into your schedule.

  1. The time it takes to manufacture and install various retrofits

So, you have paid your deposit, that’s great, the next step to be taken is we need to order in the parts, we call them ‘kits’ which includes frames, glass and glazing materials. This all depends on what type of glass you are going for and what type of frame colour your going for either frame colours that come from our standard range or our non-standard range.  It is important that you pre-plan these, as we need to know what you are wanting, therefore we can allocate times on how long it is going to take to be able to provide you with your retrofit. When ordering kits for retrofits it can take up to 2-3 weeks for the aluminium to be delivered to our factory. Once we have received your aluminium we will pre cut everything and get it ready for the powder-coaters. After 2-4 weeks, the powder coating process is complete Woo hoo! But your window is still not done it needs to be sent back to our factory to be manufactured by our workshop manager from there the parts have to assembled so that we can form a window/glass door. The manufacturing and installation times are dependent on what colours you have chosen, the parts that are required and the kits that allow us to depict the time it will take to be done and the time we can start planning for your window to be installed.

  1. The installation process

When scheduling in installation times we must allocate time for our technicians to be able to do complete the job generally retrofitting takes between 1-3 hours depending on whether it’s a retrofit of a door or window and how many people are on the job. It is important that we block out time periods for our technicians to complete retrofits because some can be more complicated than others. For instance installing a retrofit door it may look simple but it requires a minimum of 2 hours for one technician to install.
